Description: The National Park Service public Parking Lots dataset provides geographic boundaries of publicly accessible parking areas across NPS units. These polygons represent official visitor parking locations such as trailhead lots, visitor center parking, scenic area pullouts, and other publicly designated vehicle parking spaces. This dataset is derived from the authoritative internal NPS Parking Lots dataset maintained by park units and regional GIS programs. Only features appropriate for public distribution are included; restricted, administrative, or operational parking areas have been removed. All spatial features are stored in NAD83 and undergo review prior to release. The dataset supports a wide range of public uses, including online maps, trip planning applications, recreation tools, research, and digital cartography. It provides a consistent, nationwide representation of visitor‑oriented parking locations across the National Park Service.
