description: This is a vector point dataset represents survey monument features within National Park units across all states. It provides useful information for park staff and who are working on construction projects or boundary management activities. It also provides useful information for the public, such as boundary monument location information for state-licensed surveyors working on property surveys adjoining NPS lands. This data was initially created on 08/06/2010 using ArcMap 9.3 by generating point features from coordinate pairs provided by Denver Service Center (DSC) survey project deliverable files. Points with local or missing coordinate values were generated at the park unit centroid. Scanned monument record sheets or survey plats are hyperlinked to each point feature. Detailed attributes include point source, coordinate values, expected accuracies and date/time information. The goal of this dataset is to provide survey information to help reduce redundancies and costs for construction projects, boundary surveys and boundary management.
licenseInfo: Legal constraints Limitations of use There may be feature level use restrictions within this dataset. The PUBLICDISPLAY field allows a user to quickly determine which features are allowed to be released to the public. The DATAACCESS field determines what is available for public release (unrestricted) as well as additional constraints on the features within this dataset. If there are restrictions on features, verify how this data should be used or shared with the Park or with the Regional Office prior to providing this data outside of the Park or Region. Constraints Limitations of use The National Park Service (NPS) shall not be held liable for improper or incorrect use of the data described and/or contained herein. The data and related graphics, if available, are not legal documents and are not intended to be used as such. Some of the data represented is of survey quality but is not intended to be used in lieu of an actual survey required to identify boundary lines or establish project control. The information contained in the dataset is dynamic and may change over time. The data is no better than the original sources from which it is derived. It is the responsibility of the data user to use the data appropriately and consistent within the limitations of geospatial data in general and this dataset in particular. The related graphics are intended to aid the data user in acquiring relevant data; it is not appropriate to use the related graphics as data. The NPS gives no warranty, expressed or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the data. It is strongly recommended that the data be directly acquired from an NPS source and not indirectly through other sources, which may have changed the data in some way. Although the data has been processed successfully on a computer system at the NPS, no warranty expressed or implied is made regarding the utility of the data on another system or for general or scientific purposes, nor shall the act of distribution constitute any such warranty. This disclaimer applies both to individual use of the data and aggregate use with other data.
